The Museum of the North Beach has received a most generous donation from Moclips resident Barbara Topete.
Barbara, who with her family started the Ocean Crest Resort in 1953, has amassed a very large collection of Native American artwork including baskets, carvings, and bead work. Through the years, many of the artifacts have been prominently displayed in the restaurant & lounge at the Ocean Crest.

Native American Collection of Baskets
This impressive series of hand worked native art has been donated to the museum. The historical value alone is priceless and will really enrich the local Native American content of our displays.
Because of the delicate nature of many of the items, we will need to construct special display cases to properly maintain their integrity. For this reason, the artifacts will remain with the Ocean Crest Resort until we are ready to display them.
We will be looking for donations and possibly a grant, to help us with this new project; and have been researching the best way to keep these items from any further deterioration.
Due to the size and historical significance of this most treasured collection, we felt it was appropriate to present Barbara Topete with a plaque thanking her for the donation. It now hangs at the restaurant of the Ocean Crest Resort.
The Museum of the North Beach is very grateful to the Ocean Crest family for their continued support of our efforts to preserve the history of the north beach. Such generosity is commendable. Thank you – Ocean Crest Resort!
