Why is it, those who can, do, and those who won’t, suck off of the state?
I wonder at times if we have not set up the American public to starve.
We have all the toys, the car, the jet ski, the game boy and the magic box – treasure chest to the world.
We see the financial world around us in the news go all to heck, and we sit back with our beverage and say those (insert your favorite swear word) guys get what they deserve.
Down the street the neighbors daughter has a baby, is not married but gets the social safety net of welfare, because it is the only way out.
The local mill shuts down, workers laid off, and we say “thank goodness it is not me!”
Across the county a few years back workers struck for more pay, at the end of the four months of striking, the company closed and the workers yelled in victory “we showed them!”
I ask “Oh? What happened to your job?”
Back then the unemployment was about five percent now it is admitted that over ten percent are out of work.
Now there are even less options to fall back on.
Yet the magic treasure box (our brain) is not utilized.
Have we all become a bunch of useless eaters?
We the people, sitting back yelling like spoiled children, yelling: “ENTERTAIN ME!”
How starved we are for social interaction as we sit in the dark out in the suburbs, in homes, so big we need to text message the other person in the house.
How cut off we are from how our food is created.
The question comes up, how long can you personally keep this up?
Over the past few months I have watched families do nothing, right up to the day the sheriff boots them out of their rental home, or forecloses on their mortgage.
They move in with friends, camp out along the river, move back home with mom and dad.
We sit back and say, “They deserve that! That will not happen to me!”
Think for a moment, don’t you think that those are the same two lies those folks told to themselves back a few months ago?
Don’t you think maybe that safety net you call a home is not so safe of an investment as you thought?
Oh, you can claim that it is worth much more than the mortgage you are still paying on. Your county taxes lead you to believe that. But what if you cannot make that payment any more? How much savings do you have to cover it? Who will be left a few months or years from now to buy it from you?
Supply and demand has more to do with what the value of your home is than any other factor. When you see all the vacant homes around you, owned by the bank, this is not a good thing for you! Do you think your home is still valuable? All those years you worked dumping time and money into it, was it worth it, if today there is nobody there to buy it from you when you want to down size?
The wealth of a bank has everything to do with the ability of the community around it being able to pay back their loans, not with the number of homes it places in it’s R.E.O. folder.(Real Estate Owned). Banks are absolutely the masters of money but are very, very, poor landlords and property managers. If they fill the R.E.O. folder long enough, larger banks start looking at them funny and stop lending them money because that little bank is making bad loans to people who could not pay.
Depressed? I hope so! Reality is a cruel, cruel, teacher.
Why is it then, that those who can, do, and those who won’t, suck off of the state?
I don’t care if it is that child mother who signs up for welfare or that bank who signs up for TARP, what are you (collectively) willing to give up to become wards of the state?
Change for the better starts here. It starts in your neighborhood. It starts in your home. It starts with the magic box -treasure chest to the world, your brain.
To open that treasure chest start by asking “What if?”
Asking What if starts up the Imagination Factory.
When we ask “What I.F.” out pours the keys to solve the problems at hand.
The TV and the Internet are not the the magic boxes nor the treasure chest to the world. Those are only tools to view other options.
What are you doing with these tools?
What are you doing to make it easier for others to get off of the government support? Are you using these tools to ask those who represent you the questions of, why they are spending your money on things that do not get companies and people back to work?
The only difference between you and those who now have not, actually is not very great. But it has everything to do with opening up that magic box we call a brain.
“I can’t” never did anything.
“I can” built this nation.
“What I.F.” sparks the imagination.
The time has come to stop shutting the lid on the treasure chest. The time has come to take out all those little gems of ideas and investing them with people willing to work on them.
Ideas that are not used, or shared, are like slices of bread stuck under the mattress.
Not much good after a few years are they?
When we share the magic box, the treasure chest to the world (our brain), it helps not only ourselves but it helps those who are just starting to open their own magic boxes.
When It comes down to it, it was WE who did it, WE who built it, and all of us, who inspired others to pull with us!
It was us, a collection of individuals pulling together sharing our skills to build everything we have today.
Share the dream, open the magic box! It is the only way we (you and I together) will get out of this mess.
Ask: “What I.F.????” and share the answers you find!
