July has arrived! If ever there was an all-American month, it must be July. Your Grays Harbor Public Market loves July so much that we aren’t willing to wait for the 4th of July to begin celebrating- we’re starting on July 3rd, this Friday!!
Have you noticed our red, white, & blue bunting draping the entire front of the market? Makes me happy just to look at it. On Friday the scene will become positively Rockwellian (you know, as in Norman) when Big Red, the venerable old flat bed truck from the Polson Museum arrives. We are reaching out to families with children by offering a free blow-up playground area for the kids to romp upon. We ask only that they bring their pet adult for supervision. Music will be playing all day long, with the Barbershop Quartet Living Harmony arriving at 2pm. We intend to ply them with plenty of strawberry shortcake to keep them happy and singing throughout the afternoon!
Anthony Stricevich will be grilling his world famous sausages and Nancy is the one producing the Strawberry Shortcakes ,using her light-as-a-feather baking powder biscuits, made fresh each morning! By the way- this is absolutely the final week for Spooners Strawberries! You don’t really have to make jam this week- you can simply wash and freeze the berries and wait for one of those cold, dark winter days when you really need a reminder of summer’s radiance. Make your jam then! Meanwhile, give us a call to hold a flat for you. Remember, they are the same price here as at the Spooners stand and fresh-picked the same day.
We’ll have a multitude of special exhibits at the market on Friday. Juel’s Nursery is bringing a large shipment of Blueberry bushes. Now, these aren’t just your scruffy little bush which may or may not someday produce a few berries- no sir, these are bushes which already have berries on them! Juels will also have blooming lilies and day lilies, along with colorful perennials. You fully intended to plant them earlier, but now they are still available and you can release that little cloud of guilt. Just get them planted now and accept the compliments with a graceful humility.
Humptulips Cedar Adirondack Furniture will have a special display of their entire line of fine outdoor furniture. Some of it will be strategically placed on Big Red in order to get the attention of the tourists. You heard it first here! Nancy is also offering .25 off the price of her fabulous cinnamon rolls all week long, and Deidra is stirring up pots of soup and salads.
Make the 3rd of July your first event of the holiday weekend! Join us at the Market for great food, music, produce, photography, plants, art, crafts, books, jewelry, honey, jam, candles, and more!
We’re open Wednesday Thru Sunday!
