In my experience I have found it is never necessary nor wise to negate a child’s feelings. In fact, it has been intensely freeing to learn how to consistently support them. Supporting a child’s right to feel or think what they do does not mean smoothing the way for them in life’s scenarios nor honoring their every request (or demand!).
